I’m Laying Over

Look who came for a visit today. My neighbor is the wilderness mother to all the feral faunas, at this point deer would eat out of her hand if she extended it out for them. This little fellow might be digesting his dose of yumminess from her noble contribution or perhaps wondering if I would also be so kind to tender another generous offering.

Wild eyes in the wilderness
Where’re you going with the devil in hand?
Wild eyes in the wilderness
Where’re you going with the devil in hand?

I’m going to build the bridges high
for working money, for working money
I’m going to climb the bridges high
Caledonia brother far away

Still water – I’m laying over
Still water – Lay my body down over
Still water – Laying over
Caledonia river far away… -Daniel Lanois

A beautiful song about Iron Workers who built the bridges now in decay. It’s an all-American mixed bag… some of the workers claimed to be Italian-immigrants, some Irish-immigrants, some Canadians, and some of them claimed to be Mohawks.

Where’re you heading wild eyes?
