Recollecting the Scene

I found myself trying a new joint and have come to love a creamy frozen delight just before closing time. Perhaps it was the tinted window reflecting the ruby-lit December sky that lured me. I dashed in and exchanged a few more words than typical but didn’t expect the sky to transition to noire with a sprinkle of star dust to get me back home. This alley way, where I parked prior to when my night vision kicked in has faded to black. I stopped to recall what I had seen along this lane before the night cloak covered us in darkness. A habit I’ve picked up as of late, anyone else try this guessing game? As I was recalling, a shooting star zoomed above me.
