A Not So Deeping Sky

I wouldn’t consider this a path to enlightenment, but it’s a path nonetheless. All we can do is close our eyes and listen as darkness descends and reminisce about singing all night for no other reason but love.

We cannot reach any higher if we can’t deal with it.

Natural darkness is scarce on the planet and yet it’s essential for the proper functioning of the Earth’s ecosystems. Light at night not only threatens the survival of living beings, but it also creates a titanic shift in how we perceive the world around us.

“There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception,” Aldous Huxley

For humans, darkness empowers different modes of perception by shrouding our overstimulated visual systems and allowing our field of vision to be enveloped in natural darkness.  As we deprive our eyes and brains from this tidbit of information, a different mode of thinking emerges.

We can’t fall any further if we can’t feel it.

We arrived here, so advanced and yet in the modern age of screens the bombardment onto our visual system, firing full-on with rarely a crossover to the threshold of natural darkness in our waking moments…it’s a wonder why we don’t even know what we are fighting for.

This power of darkness cannot be overstated.

We can’t fall any further if we can’t feel it.
