It can feel isolating when so many are eager to condemn instead of to converse. It’s no wonder we feel drawn to this hill and the surrounding trees cheering us on as we cruise downhill. Looking from below they tower but do not judge. They feel but do not blame. They sway but do not squabble. Their courage, resilience and perseverance is why we come back to these yielding sentient beings. After our thrill on the hill, we carry on with devotion, discipline and commitment to the mission. I stopped fretting about leaving a better planet for our children and instead I am focusing on leaving better children behind for our planet. A child so sentient of her surroundings will not only revere the earth she treads but also herself and fellow beings as one and the same.
